How it works

  1. Share your requirements. Tell us where, when, how many people and any pets or accessibility needs, with the search or the request form. Please don't include claim numbers or details of the loss.
  2. Review homes and an itemized quote. We check each home's live calendar for your whole stay. An itemized estimate lists rent, fees and taxes, with the refundable security deposit hold shown on its own line.
  3. Confirm authorization and terms. Confirm any approval you need from your insurer, then agree to the booking terms. Payment and contracting arrangements are confirmed for each booking.
  4. Arrange move-in. First-time guests complete a quick ID and selfie check after booking, as part of our booking terms. We then send arrival details.

For adjusters and housing coordinators

  • Ask for an itemized quote for one home or several. The online total is an estimate from our live booking engine. Long-stay pricing may be lower, so request a quote.
  • Save homes to a shortlist, compare them side by side, and print a summary of the homes and their estimates.
  • Payment is by card at booking, through the same checkout and payment schedule as any booking on this site. Payment and contracting arrangements are confirmed for each booking, and an insurer does not sign or guarantee anything unless the booking says so.
  • We extend whenever the home's calendar is open. Ask early: another guest can book the dates after yours.

For homeowners

  • We provide housing. We are not an insurer and we do not decide coverage. What your policy pays for is between you and your insurer.
  • You can contact us directly. You don't need an adjuster to ask what is open or what a stay would cost. Call (813) 531-8988 or send the request form.
  • Ask your insurer or adjuster what they need before you book, so you know what to keep and what to send them.

What is ALE, in plain English

Additional Living Expenses, or ALE, is a part of many homeowner and renter policies. Sometimes it is called loss of use. It may help with the extra cost of living somewhere else while a fire, water damage or another loss keeps you out of your home.

Whether you have it, what it covers, how much it pays, for how long, and what needs approval first all depend on your policy and your insurer. We can't tell you what your policy covers, and we don't decide it. Your adjuster or insurer can tell you what they need before you book.

Questions

What is insurance temporary housing?

When a fire, water damage or another loss makes a home unlivable, some insurance policies include Additional Living Expenses (ALE), sometimes called loss of use, to help with the extra cost of living elsewhere. Insurance temporary housing is a furnished place to stay during that time. We provide housing. We are not an insurer and we do not decide coverage.

Can adjusters and coordinators request quotes?

Yes. Use the request form or call (813) 531-8988, name the homes you're considering, and ask for an itemized quote. The online total is an estimate from our live booking engine. Long-stay pricing may be lower, so request a quote.

Can homeowners contact you directly?

Yes. You don't need an adjuster to ask what is open or what a stay would cost. Call (813) 531-8988, email reservations@luxurylodgingstr.com, or use the request form. What your policy pays is between you and your insurer.

Where are the homes?

We list 225 homes across 95 cities, and every one is an entire, furnished home. 28 homes in Chicago and 7 more in nearby suburbs. 6 homes in Tampa and 36 more across the Tampa Bay area. Each home's page shows its neighbourhood, never a street address; the address goes to the guest with check-in instructions.

How do dates and extensions work?

Enter your move-in and move-out dates, or choose about 30, 60 or 90 nights if you don't know yet. We check each home's live calendar for the whole stay. We extend whenever the home's calendar is open. Ask early: another guest can book the dates after yours. A calendar is a snapshot. It reserves nothing and does not promise an extension.

What about pets, utilities, parking and furnishings?

Every home is furnished. Electricity, water and wifi are included with the stay, with no separate charge or cap. Each home's own pet policy and fees apply. Kitchens, laundry, parking and workspaces appear on a home only when they have been verified, so if something isn't listed, ask us instead of assuming.

Are quotes itemized?

Yes. An estimate shows rent for the nights, cleaning and other fees by name, any pet fee, lodging tax as quoted, the card processing fee and the total. The refundable security deposit hold is shown separately, outside the total. We don't assume a long stay is tax-exempt. The online total is an estimate from our live booking engine. Long-stay pricing may be lower, so request a quote.

Will my insurance pay for this?

We can't say. Coverage, limits and approvals depend on your policy and your insurer, and we don't decide them. Payment is by card at booking, through the same checkout and payment schedule as any booking on this site. Payment and contracting arrangements are confirmed for each booking, and an insurer does not sign or guarantee anything unless the booking says so.

What if repairs take longer than planned?

Tell us as early as you can. We extend whenever the home's calendar is open. Ask early: another guest can book the dates after yours. If the home isn't open past your dates, we can look at other homes that are.

What happens if nothing matches?

The search shows homes that are open, homes we couldn't confirm, homes that are unavailable for your dates, nearby homes and the next opening, each in its own list. If nothing fits, send your requirements with the request form. They stay filled in from your search, and our team will look at what else is possible.
